Well deserverd
When his final putt to win the BMW International Open 2019 dropped, Andrea Pavan already knew what was coming. Caddie Cristian had taken off to jump right into his players arms, for a big celebration jump-hug. “He is about as heavy as I am but a lot shorter” Andrea joked when talking about the victory celebration and you could see he felt great about it. Of course the Italian was all smiles after his second win on the European Tour within a year.
For the Kids
When he knew that he would miss his flight to the next venue Pavan took a lot of time — for the fans. He posed for the traditional winner’s picture with the volunteers, signed autographs and took more than a 100 selfies. When he finally got to the courtesy car to bring him to the airport, two of his comments in our interview were still on my mind. “I hope I can get more kids to start playing golf. We love it when all the kids are around and give you a fistbump or a high five after a good shot.” was the first one and I was really impressed. But when Andrea added “Yesterday (Saturday) I finished with a bogey and of course I was disappointed. But then you see the all the kids out there and you know it really makes their day when you stay there and sign autographs. At the end of the day it’s all about them. Without them we would not be able to play golf for a living, so I am really blessed with my job.” I got shown what a great character he is.
60.000+
After a long tournament with thank god just little weather trouble Andrea Pavan was the well deserved winner in Eichenried. Martin Kaymer once again showed good form over the first two days, got out of contention with a bad Saturday. When Andrea Pavan got jumped on after his winning putt BMW had already announced that over 60.000 spectators found their way to the course just outside Munich. It was a good result for an again very well executed golf tournament that showed: Golf can be exciting and fun. For more about the BMW International Open 2019 check out my Instagram.
Voll verdient
