Ich hab ja schon viel Golf gese­hen. Aber was Fran­ces­co Moli­na­ri da am Sonn­tag beim Arnold Pal­mer Invi­ta­tio­nal abge­zo­gen hat, wird mir ne gan­ze Wei­le in Erin­ne­rung blei­ben. Es war eine Gala­vor­stel­lung. Eine Putt-Cli­nic auf einem Shot­ma­ker Cour­se (end­lich mal kei­ne Longhit­ter-Wie­se nebst den übli­chen Siegern).

Rein damit

Knapp 45 Meter hat Moli­na­ri an Putt­stre­cke am Final­tag ins­ge­samt ver­wan­delt. Das ist ein Wert, bei dem Rory McIl­roy, der sich momen­tan schon aus einem Meter schwer tut, noch blas­ser wer­den dürfte.

Mit einer 64er Run­de auf dem schwie­ri­gen Set­up in Bay Hill hat­te nie­mand gerech­net. Völ­lig logisch also, dass Fran­kie am Ende als ver­dien­ter und gefei­er­ter Sie­ger vom Platz ging. Wie man das in Ita­li­en macht und wie das dort kom­men­tiert wird, sieht man im Video.

I have seen a lot of golf on TV. But what Fran­ces­co Moli­na­ri demons­tra­ted on Sun­day at the Arnold Pal­mer Invi­ta­tio­nal will be remem­be­red for a while. It was a gala per­for­mance. A putt-cli­nic on a shotmaker’s cour­se (final­ly no longhit­ter-high­way with the usu­al suspects winning).

Almost 150 feet of putts were drow­ned by Moli­na­ri on his final day in total. That’s a value of which Rory McIl­roy, who is curr­ent­ly strugg­ling from a meter, can only dream of. Nobo­dy expec­ted a play­er to shoot a 64 on the dif­fi­cult set­up Bay Hill but the Ita­li­an did. So it’s only logi­cal that Fran­kie ended up as a deser­ved and cele­bra­ted win­ner.
