1–2‑3 große Keilerei. Beim WGC Match Play in Austin, Texas ist die Gruppenphase beendet und ich reibe mir verwundert die Augen. Das Bracket für die Runde der letzten 16 ist zwar bunt gemischt, was aber fehlt sind die Gastgeber (Matchplay). Die amerikanischen Big Names wie DJ, Bubba, Phil, Brooksy, Bryson, Spieth, Thomas und Reed sind nach zum Teil desaströser Vorstellung bereits ausgeschieden. Im Gegensatz zu den erneut munter aufspielenden “Europes” die mit 8 Mann ausgezeichnet vertreten sind, muss Amerika nun hoffen. Auf die beiden Kevins (Na und Kisner), “Spendierhose” Matt Kuchar und jetzt kommt’s — Tiger Woods.
Tolle Duelle
Dieser trifft im Achtelfinale allerdings auf einen sehr gut aufgelegten Rory McIlroy, der wie Henrik Stenson, Francesco Molinari, Branden Grace und Marc Leishman bisher alle seine Matches gewinnen konnte.
Auf der einen Seite ist es schade, dass Tiger und Rory schon jetzt aufeinander treffen. Andererseits verspricht das Duell der beiden, wie auch Casey vs Molinari ein Klassiker zu werden. Vor allem wenn der Tiger Schläge wie diesen auspackt.

Let the games begin. The group stage at the WGC match play in Austin, Texas is in the books and I am rubbing my eyes in amazement. The bracket for the round of the last 16 is a good mix, but where are all the big names from the hosting nation? (Leaderboard). The like of DJ, Bubba, Phil, Brooksy, Spieth, Bryson, Thomas and Reed did not qualify for the knock out stage, “very disappointing”. In contrast to the red hot “Europes” which are represented by 8 players in the last 16. Americans must now place their hopes on two Kevins (Na and Kisner), “Mr. Generous” Matt Kuchar and wait for it — Tiger Woods.
Dream Pairings
Tiger has to play Rory McIlroy who has stormed through his group like Henrik Stenson, Francesco Molinari, Branden Grace and Marc Leishman (all 3–0).
On the one hand, it is a pity that Tiger and Rory have to play each other already. On the other hand this match could end up a classic (the same goes for Casey vs Molinari). Especially if Tiger keeps hitting shots like this one.
